Yes, you need to make sure the apprenticeship level is right for you. When you apply you can research the apprenticeship standard, a portion of the standard is usually a qualification that is completed as part of your apprenticeship. For example, our Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship is equivalent to A levels, and built into this standard is the following qualification: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge).
There are many routes you can choose when looking to progress yourself through education and career and ultimately it depends on your end goal. An apprenticeship offers you the opportunity to develop yourself within a company, learn vital skills, develop yourself personally and professionally, as well as gaining the required experience and qualifications to take you to the next level. Not to forget, you do all this while getting paid!
Research your apprenticeship and the company you will be completing this within. There are many different apprenticeships on offer from Level 2 (GCSE level) right through to Level 7 which is equivalent to a master’s degree. If you find yourself wanting to progress onto a degree after completing your Level 3 apprenticeship in the respective field, you can, as long as you have the required grades of course.
Similarly to at university or college, you can simply transfer to a different apprenticeship with another provider/ company, or leave and look at other options.
